Professor Romeela Mohee joined the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) as the Education Specialist –Higher Education on April 10, 2017. She has been working in the higher education sector for the past 25 years as an academic, researcher and in management as Head of Department, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Pro Vice-Chancellor and for the past three-year term as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mauritius. She holds a Professional Chair in Chemical and Environmental Engineering. She has served on various academic committees/forums at both national and regional levels and is an author of many publications linked to sustainable development.
Her portfolio includes developing higher education models and policies across Sub-Saharan Africa in the promotion of Open and Distance Learning (ODL), as well as ensuring development of high-quality courses at tertiary level. She has been involved in quality assurance reviews and the development of quality guidelines for blended learning in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is also responsible for the management of the Commonwealth Executive Masters program in Business and Public Administration, CEMBA/MPA which is run by 11 Universities across the Commonwealth.
