Dr. Michael Bradshaw

Michael “Mike” Bradshaw is a Quality Assurance Professional in Higher Education. He presently serves the University of the West Indies – Faculty of Medical Sciences as Quality Enhancement Specialist. Prior to this appointment he served as Executive Director of the Accreditation Council of Trinidad & Tobago (ACTT) from 2009 – 2018. He has acquired over twenty-five (25) years of experience in the area of quality assurance having served in several positions within Trinidad and Tobago’s higher education and quality assurance systems including in technical vocational education and training (TVET). He also serves as a Lecturer for both bachelors and masters programmes in educational leadership at the UWI-School of Education. He was one of the pioneer academics in establishing the UWI, Distance Education Centre, now UWI Open Campus which provided online as well as “blended learning” opportunities for students to access UWI certificates, diplomas and degree programmes. He also served as a Teacher Educator and Curriculum Specialist, Primary Science Education with the Ministry of Education, Trinidad & Tobago; Sector Development Specialist (Energy Sector) with the National Training Agency (NTA) and Education Specialist in the Secondary Education Modernisation Programme (SEMP) with responsibility for Teacher and Principal training and development.

He presently serves as a Director, INQAAHE as well as the Deputy Chair, COL TQF Management Committee, that created history in establishing the first Transnational Qualifications Framework (TQF) which is successfully serving the Small States of the Commonwealth among others. Further, he was part of the team that developed CARICOM’s (Regional) Qualifications Framework (CQF). He also served as Vice President CANQATE from 2011 – 2013 where he initiated the drive to revisit and revise CANQATE’s Constitution as well as contributed to the revision of the INQAAHE’S constitution. Further, he has served as a Quality Assurance Consultant to many Caribbean states assisting with the development of their Accreditation policies and Qualification Frameworks.

Mike Bradshaw is also an accomplished author of textbooks and co-authored a Series – Primary Science for the Caribbean with accompanying Teachers’ Handbooks published by Longmans UK. He also co-authored a Children’s Reader also published by Longmans UK entitled “Scientists at Work” which highlights the contributions made by Scientists in the Caribbean.

He has also authored and presented several papers on Quality Assurance in Higher Education at local, regional and international conferences.
